I can't upload a background…help!

  Hi everyone,
  I have started a new blog and just want a simple theme to which I can upload a background & have chosen SemPress however I have tried uploading several pics as background and although it tells me is saved I can’t see it/it does not work.Any suggestions on how to sort this? If possible I would like to keep this theme but also……..can anyone suggest other simple themes that will actually show backgrounds I upload?
