I CAN'T UPLOAD A PROFILE PICTURE

Okay so on WordPress when you upload a profile picture, or click to upload one, it takes you to Gravatar. So okay I make a Gravatar account through WordPress, upload a picture, and it still won’t show on WordPress. This is honestly the stupidest thing on earth to me because I don’t understand why this third party. Why can’t I just upload a profile picture to WordPress like any other social media site? I have yet to figure out how to get my profile picture to show and this is extremely irritating. I do not understand the point of Gravatar.

A wordpress.com account and a gravatar account are one in the same thing.
Why Does Gravatar Say I Already Have an Account?
http://en.gravatar.com/support/existing-account/Gravatar/blavatar (favicon) images do not show up instantly after uploading them. Gravatar images are cached and frequently take several days to display after a change.

Dashboard → Settings → General
* Replace “http://INSERT_NAME_OF_BLOG” below with the actual name of your blog in the URL

Do not keep uploading!
