Hi sumisinghwrites,
I understand how you may be feeling. :/
You may be able to get some of your original content on
http://web.archive.org/ (please type your original website address to the field on the website –
sumisingh28.wordpress.com)I can’t promise anything, but I can see at least some of your original articles there:
https://web.archive.org/web/20170627002345/http://sumisingh28.wordpress.comDownload and keep everything your can.
Please let me know if this helped.
Thank youP.S. The idea with using https://web.archive.org/ is from my colleague Blake (@theblakesheep) :)

Hello sumisinghwrites!
I just wanted to throw out another option: when you google the original site URL (http://sumisingh28.wordpress.com), on the results, if you click the little green arrow, you can see the cached (saved picture) of the site.
Looking at http://sumisingh28.wordpress.com, it looks like its all the same content as sumisinghwrites.wordpress.com, meaning all of the content did transfer. You mentioned all of your posts are gone, is this still the case?
-
Thanks for your assistance. I checked the sumisingh28 site and although it still comes up on the net, none of the info is there. It says my site has been deleted. Therefore I can’t access any of it and none of it is transferred to my new site. Must I publish all the content again for it to be on my site. What about my followers by email do they get transferred to my new user name.
Where are the happiness engineers because I am so upset now. I chose the wrong option and now all my work for the past 3 years is gone.

What content are you missing? When changing usernames, as it mentions in this support document
Selecting “Yes, change example.wordpress.com to match my new username and discard the old address” will change the address of your current blog. If your new user name is newusername, your blog’s address will be changed to newusername.wordpress.com. (You won’t be able to use the old address again.)
It looks like that is what you did, as your site is transferred to the new address and the old site was deleted.
When going to https://sumisinghwrites.wordpress.com/, I see what looks like all of your original site, all of the articles and posts that were on the old address. You said that none of it transfered to the new site, but what are you missing specifically?
-
When I click on the category cloud to find old posts they don’t come up. They go to my old site and say its been deleted.
If one looks for my posts on the internet it does not come up anymore. Has all this been wiped out? What about my followers will they still receive new posts from me?
-
I’m sorry, I still don’t really understand your question.
Do you want your original URL (http://sumisingh28.wordpress.com) back? That unfortunately is not available; when you select to delete a site, it is permanently and irretrievably deleted. That’s why it asks you to confirm your choice, as deleted URL’s can never be restored (for security reasons)
The site itself and all your posts, though, were not deleted, they were just moved to the new URL: sumisinghwrites.wordpress.com. When you go to this URL, do you see all of your posts, basically your entire previous site?
All of you followers should transfer automatically, as staff member @thebud15 mentions here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/site-address-followers?replies=11
-
Yes I do see my site and I’m glad the content was not deleted. When I changed my user name I didn’t understand the instructions properly and thought the username would and not delete the old site in its entirety.
What bothers me is that my category clouds still go to the old site which is deleted. How do I get it to link to the content on my new site which still has the posts available if I scroll to find them.
Also my online presence on wordpress has been deleted. Must I publish old posts for them to feature again. Sorry for all the questions but this has really bummed me out. And thanks so much for your help.
-
No problem at all, I understand your frustration!
As far as the category clouds, for me, they all lead to the correct site. It may be a caching issue with your browser, leading to the old link. Maybe try clearing and resetting your browser cache?
As far as your online presence, being deleted, I’m not quite sure what you mean, can you elaborate a bit please?
-
So there is no way of getting my old site back? I am trying to clear my browser cache but its asking all sorts of questions.
My previous posts that are on the net just leads to a deleted site. Not good for me at this stage.
-
Unfortunately, no, once a site is deleted, it is deleted permanently, the URL will never be able to be reused.
As far as links not working, this forum post discusses it:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-domain-how-to-connect-old-links-to-the-new-website?replies=4It looks like your former links will not work anymore as the old site is completely gone. I’m really sorry about this, its seems like as far as that goes, there’s not really any other options.
Let me know if you have any more questions, we can always tag a MODLOOK if you want to reach out to staff.
-
Yes I would like to speak to the staff at wordpress. Can’t accept my work can’t be linked. Thanks for your help.
-
-
I tagged MODLOOK in the side tags, which will put is post on their tagged list, and when a staff member is available, they will come work with you here.
If you want, you can click the “Subscribe to Topic” on the right side there, and then it will email you when they respond, so you don’t have to check back.

Hi there,
When you changed your username you also selected the option to change your blog address. So the site is no longer at https://sumisingh28.wordpress.com/, but it is now at https://sumisinghwrites.wordpress.com, and you’ll be able to access it if you click on My Sites on WordPress.com.
There is no way to reverse either the site address change or the username change, as was stated in the warnings and instructions on the screen when you made these changes.
-
Hello.
I didn’t understand the instructions as I’m not a web designer and wordpress isn’t exactly user friendly. I just thought the username would change. People make mistakes by a slip of a button as we are human and their should be an option to reverse it or at least get my old domain back.
I still see old posts of mine on the internet and when trying to access them it says the site is deleted. How does one get rid of these if I can never get the old site/domain back again? Is there a way to go onto my old posts that are still on my site and change the old domain to the new site which will still reflect on the internet or redirect to my new site?
