i changed my username but did not create a new web address to match the username

i changed my username but did not create a corresponding web address, I have tried changing my url but it doesn’t work. i.e i changed my username from dre to ray and i want a corresponding web address “ray.wordpress.com” but i did not select that option when i was making the change, how do i get my web address to be “ray.wordpress.com”. every attempt to that gets me a “that site has been reserved” is there a way to reactivate a reserved site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The address ray.wordpress.com cannot be registered. Site name must be at least 4 characters.
This address isn’t reserved; it can’t be used, period. You can’t have a URL/username that’s only three characters long. That’s why you can’t register that address.
Also, your username as shown next to your post here is iryefblog, not ray. If you’re talking about the display name that appears when you comment on a blog, that’s only a display name, not the username. It’s only cosmetic.

@kokkieh I was being hypothetical. the deal is this I changed my blog username to iryef because I wanted to change my blog url from http://www.idealsandrealitiesyouthempowermentfoundation.wordpress.com to http://www.iryef.wordpress.com but I did not create a corresponding blog url to match while I was making the change. I have tried changing my website url in account settings and saved the changes but the blog site’s address is still the same (which is currently http://www.idealsandrealitiesyouthempowermentfoundation.wordpress.com). Apparently I have to change my username and create a corresponding url to match I tried doing that by using my new username iryef as my old username and iryef as my new username, that didn’t work. So I changed it to iryefblog thinking that would free up iryef as a potential username but it is still saying the name is reserved. how can I fix this? I want to use iryef as my username and iryef.wordpress.com as my blog address.

What you have to do is create that blog, transfer all your contents from the old blog into it, and then on the old blog buy the redirect Upgrade to divert anyone going to the old blog and send them to the new one.

What @raincoaster said. Just to elaborate, changing the URL under account settings won’t change your blog address. That only changes the URL that is linked to your username. You can try changing your blog address from the My Blogs page in the WP-Admin dashboard, or you can register the new address and manually move your content from one to the other. Instructions for the two methods at these links:

https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-between-wordpress-com-blogsSo I changed it to iryefblog thinking that would free up iryef as a potential username but it is still saying the name is reserved. how can I fix this? I want to use iryef as my username and iryef.wordpress.com as my blog address.
By changing your username from iryef to iryefblog you deleted iryef and I don’t think you’ll be able to change back to it again. You can still try registering that blog, but it might have been removed along with the username. In that case, you’ll have to register iryefblog.wordpress.com instead.
You can still change your display name to iryef under your account settings, so when you comment it will show the name you want, but you’ll log in with iryefblog.
