    Basically, I wanted to restart my WordPress account as I prefer this blogging platform to others I have used. I deleted all the previous content off ‘mysite.wordpress.com’ and actually deleted the entire site as I thought that would be the easiest thing to do – I know that it says that it will permanently delete your site, which is what I wanted to do… but I didn’t realise I would have such trouble creating another site!

    I changed my username to ‘mustardandmason’ – and selected to change my address to ‘mustardandmason.wordpress.com’, subsequently deleting ‘mysite.wordpress.com’. I thought this would allow me to start a whole new site from scratch so that all my content had been deleted and my address had been changed.

    Since doing that, it would not allow me to post anything when logged in, and would not allow me to create a site with the URL ‘mustardandmason’ stating that it was already taken, which of course I know, but I couldn’t use…

    I then changed my username to ‘rtxoxo’ as something quick to attempt to ‘add a site’ using ‘mustardandmason.wordpress.com’ but it now says that this has been deleted.

    Is this problem occurring because I deleted my original blog, so that it now will not let me have a site no matter what I change it to, unless I add another? It is annoying that I can’t just delete my account and make a new one with my email address!!

    In terms of resolution for this problem, all I want is to be able to use ‘mustardandmason.wordpress.com’ as a blogging URL to post content. It has been frustrating that I cannot just change my name and URL accordingly and continue to post. If I cannot use this then I will have to discard my WordPress account and use something else! :(

    Hi Rachel,

    At WordPress.com we do not recycle usernames or blog names. During the deletion and renaming process we specify that you will never be able to use either name again. You are welcome to create a new blog using a different name, but as the name mustardandmason has been deleted, it cannot be used again.
