I currently have a personal domain, trouble installing a Woocommerce theme
-
Hello,
I have a personal account with WP, (I originally purchased the domain elsewhere now mapped to WP.) Questions –1). After site was mapped, I paid $35.88 to WP thinking that was a Premium upgrade but the receipt shows “Personal Bundle”. What is Personal Bundle and how will it benefit my business site? All I’m looking for is to be able to install a e- commerce theme for my fashion business.
2). I purchased a theme from Woocommerce, I tried to install but getting notification to upgrade to a Business Plan – Is this correct ?
Thanks

Yes.
You cannot upload any third party of custom themes unless you have a Business Plan http://wordpress.com/pricing
The Business upgrade includes:
• Google analytics
• Footer Credit Options https://en.support.wordpress.com/footer-credits/
• SEO Tools https://en.support.wordpress.com/seo-tools/
• The ability to install most plugins https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/ including woocommerce and the ability to install third party themes. https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#uploading-custom-themes -
If and when you upgrade from Personal to Premium or from Premium to Business you pay the difference between the two plans https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/domain-mapping-almost-impossible-to-understand-how-it-works?replies=4#post-2874012
If you have a site with a custom domain and then upgrade to a plan, you’ll receive an automatic discount for the domain, but you will need to buy the plan using the same username account that already owns the domain.

Hello, thanks for your response. I did try to upgrade to a premium but did not receive any discount. I may have mapped my domain to this current personal plan but with a different username.
Is there anything I can do to rectify it?
-
If I can understand correctly, you may try logging in with the account from which you made the purchase (of Personal plan) and try again. And, do not go to the WordPress.com pricing page directly. Instead, login first and then choose your website (for which you paid) from the ‘My Sites’ section and click on the ‘Plan’ tab which is towards your left.
Hope that helps.

I use the same login for both.
I selected the Personal Plan account and tried again to upgrade to premium but I’m still being charged the full amount for premium.
I feel that so far I’ve paid unnecessarily too much for almost nothing.
– I had originally paid Godaddy for my domain, then mapped it to WP and paid $13.00, then upgraded to Personal Bundle for $35.88 – all of which I can’t even use what I needed the site for.Is this an accurate representation of what everyone pays on WP? I only to a site for e- commerce – thanks!

What is the URL of the exact same site that has the Business Plan upgrade?

Hi veesfab,
All I’m looking for is to be able to install a e- commerce theme for my fashion business.
As timethief mentioned, you can only install custom themes and use WooCommerce with the Business plan. If you are using the Free, Personal or Premium plan, themes can only be activated from our theme showcase:
I may have mapped my domain to this current personal plan but with a different username.
veesfabdesigns.com is currently mapped to veesfabdesignsblog.wordpress.com, is this the domain you are referring to?

Hi,
Ok, I see the confusion – As I got ready to transfer my domain to WP from GoDaddy, I was under the impression that I had to create a site first on WP before I could map it, that’s why I created veesfabdesignsblog.wordpress.com.I was not intending to map veesfabdesigns.com to veesfabdesignsblog.wordpress.com- actually I did not realize that’s what I did until now.
Is there anything I could do to fix it?
I would like to upgrade to a business plan but I feel that I’ve spent too much already on this website.
Can you help any further? Thanks!

Hi veesfab,
As I got ready to transfer my domain to WP from GoDaddy, I was under the impression that I had to create a site first on WP before I could map it
We don’t currently accept incoming domain transfers, so an existing domain needs to be mapped to WordPress.com using Domain Mapping. The first step is to create a site and then purchase an upgrade (which you had already done correctly).
I was not intending to map veesfabdesigns.com to veesfabdesignsblog.wordpress.com- actually I did not realize that’s what I did until now.
Which site would you like to map the domain to?
I would like to upgrade to a business plan but I feel that I’ve spent too much already on this website.
You originally purchased the Personal plan and then upgraded to the Premium plan and paid the difference between the two plans. This amount has been refunded and there is a copy of the refund receipt here:
https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing
The Personal plan was cancelled outside of the refund period, so it wasn’t refunded. I can restore that plan to your site then you will only pay the difference between the Personal and Business plans if you decide to upgrade.
Let me know if anything is unclear.

This whole process is still a little fuzzy…
If you restore the Personal plan, would it be possible to map it to my veesfabdesigns.com website? Here’s what I needed to do so you can please advise –
-I would like to keep my veesfabdesigns.com website.
-Map the domain to veesfabdesigns.com
-I’m open to upgrading to a business plan, but I’d like to know what the difference in cost that would be.
-I don’t have any need for veesfabdesignsblog.wordpress.com, should I close it? How can I close it?Can you please let me know what steps to take?
I had purchased the Premium plan and quickly cancelled it because I unsure of what I was doing.
Thanks

Hi veesfab,
I don’t have any need for veesfabdesignsblog.wordpress.com, should I close it? How can I close it?
veesfabdesignsblog.wordpress.com is currently the only site in your account. You can delete that site if you wish but you would need to create a new site in your account to add upgrades to. Just so you are aware, it isn’t possible to reuse a WordPress.com address once the site has been deleted. Only do so if you are sure you won’t need it again in the future.
If you restore the Personal plan, would it be possible to map it to my veesfabdesigns.com website?
If I restore the plan, that will include domain mapping.
Map the domain to veesfabdesigns.com
veesfabdesigns.com is the domain that can be mapped to your WordPress.com site. Mapping a domain displays it in a browsers address bar — without domain mapping, visitors to your site would see veesfabdesignsblog.wordpress.com in their browser’s address bar instead.
I’m open to upgrading to a business plan, but I’d like to know what the difference in cost that would be.
The difference between the two plans is $263.12. Would you like me to restore the Personal plan to your site?
-
Ok , can we please restore the personal plan and map the domain to veesfabdesigns.com? I hope more charges will not be incurred by so doing?
I will take time and research this more before making further decisions about upgrading to a business plan.
Thanks!
-
Sure, I’ve added the Personal plan and domain mapping back to your site. There is no extra charge as you hadn’t been refunded (the plan is outside of the refund period).
I will take time and research this more before making further decisions about upgrading to a business plan.
That’s fine. If you have any more questions, you’re welcome to ask them here.
