  • Howdy, great to hear that you’re reading Scott’s book. Welcome to WordPress.com. :)

    If you’re interested in helping with the forums a great place to start is this filter. It pulls in all of the forum topics that haven’t yet been replied to. For helpful details we also have a fairly comprehensive support doc site that you can refer people back to.

    If you’re brand-new to WordPress.com yourself you might find our step-by-step guide to be helpful. That has a lot of details that will get you up and running with WordPress.com and, potentially, help out with the forum threads you come across.

    And, finally, if you find the experience of helping others to be addicting and fulfilling, we’re always looking for more great Happiness Engineers to help our users. :)

    @bellafloresflorist

    if I need support to give support I will refer back to the codex

    Please be crystal clear on the fact that we do NOT provide support for any WordPress.ORG software here at WordPress.COM.

    Read this comparison http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    Then know that the only relevant support docs for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs are here http://support.wordpress.com

    When we get people answering questions here at WordPress.com and referring to the WordPress.org codex they create mass confusion. Moreover, we existing WordPress.com Volunteers, who have answered support questions for years longer than most support Staff like andrewspittle have even been on Staff, are placed in the unenviable position of having to tailgate every newbie Volunteer into every thread and correct any incorrect answers. So if you are accustomed to setting up WordPress.ORG installs and using the codex it may be better to volunteer over at http://wordpress.org/support/ than here.

    P.S. If you do decide to answer questions here then I suggest that you link your WordPress.com username to your WordPress.com blog, rather than to the commercial WordPress.org site it’s linked to now so you don’t create confusion.

    There’s no blog linked to your username at present.

    Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Primary Blog. Where it says ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

    The change is not retroactive. Note that there is a complete record of every post that you make to the forum on your forum profile page. Also note that when you mark a forum threads as “favorites” that you will find them listed on the forum profile page too. And everyone in the forum can access your forum profile by simply clicking on “Member” next to your username.
