I deleted my domain name without less than an hour ago and want to retrieve it

    I deleted a domain name willbeckler.com that I wanted without realizing the repercussions. It only happened less than an hour ago, so is there a way to reverse this change so I can purchase a plan with that domain name?

    Hey there,

    It looks like the domain was refunded, so I’ve sent a separate email whereby this can be repurchased.

    Once repurchased, we’ll be able to restore the domain for you.

    To note, you would need to have a paid plan in order to set a primary custom domain. If you’re interested in setting a primary domain for the website, the domain would be free with the plan, and a plan can be purchased via Upgrades > Plans. If that’s of interest, ignore that separate email – purchase the plan, and we can restore the domain free of charge as part of that plan.

    What are your website goals exactly? I’ll happily guide you toward an appropriate plan if that’s of interest.

    Hi aleone!

    The purpose of my site is to host my portfolio, so I want that domain name. I’m a little unfamiliar with hosting domain names. I don’t mind repurchasing the domain name, but I’m undecided if I will stick with wordpress to be the domain host. If I repurchase the domain name, am I able to swap hosts at a later date or is that something that can only be done with an upgrade plan?

    Yes, this is possible and being able to transfer the domain away to another host does not require a plan.

    If the domain has an intrinsic value, I would recommend securing the domain, and transferring it when you can, or using custom DNS settings to point it to another builder, rather than cancelling it in the hopes of purchasing it elsewhere – mainly because, that may not happen.

    Just to make sure I understand correctly:

    I can reclaim my domain using the email link you sent me. After doing so, I can either purchase a plan on wordpress or transfer to another domain host. Is that correct?

    Yes, that’s correct.

    To clarify, once reclaimed, a transfer can take place after 60 days have passed due to ICANN transfer rules.

    But it is possible to use the domain with another provide via custom DNS settings within that 60 days.
