I deleted my URL to re-start but wordpress thinks it's not available

  I deleted my blog after over two hours of trying to delete the homepage automatically created. It did not appear in ‘pages’ under my dashboard yet was there in the menu and when my URL was input it would go to a homepage of zero content. I could not edit the URL of the homepage I wanted the site to link to. I could get rid of it from the menu but I as I said before when my url was typed in http://www.stopthesheep.wordpress.com it linked to a page with no content because the HOME page does not actually exist. Finally frustrated I deleted the whole thing wanting to start completely from scratch. Now my URL is not available. I manage other blog sites and have no issue navigating the dashboard and making adjustments so why does wordpress have to be so user un-friendly? I shouldn’t have to search and read articles and experiment for over two hours just to make such a simple adjustment as selecting my homepage.
