I deleted my wordpress site and want to reuse the domain name, is that possible?

Hi! So I deleted my entire WordPress site because I didn’t like the theme and wanted to remake my entire online portfolio, however when I try to make a new site with the same domain name as my previous (and now deleted) site, it won’t let me.

Wondering if I’ll ever be able to use my domain name again? (Which was just my first and last name…)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi midwesternbroad,

I’ve tagged your question for Staff attention, as they may be able to restore the site/name again if the deletion was recent. In the future, consider alternatives to deleting a site mentioned in the Delete Site support article which may save you some trouble.

Deleting a site means that address becomes unavailable and cannot be used for another site. Which address do you want to use?

If you let me know, I can check whether it will be possible to restore the site.

    Thanks!

Okay, yes I did a little more research after I made this post and quickly realized my mistake. I had deleted the blog once before, and I guess I thought I had used the same domain name but it must have been different.

My domain name was simply my first and last name, samanthageorgson.wordpress.com, if it is at all possible that would be fantastic! Otherwise I’ve added “portfolio” to the end of my new URL, so that could also suffice.

I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly!

  • Since this was just recently deleted, we were able to restore it for you. Cheers!
