I deleted this blog and want to reclaim the name back – it’s been > 2 years
-
When I asked support how to reclaim the cryo.wordpress.org blog, I was told I had to wait over 2 years before it could be reclaimed.
There were tons of entries in the original blog, and instead of deleting them en-masse, I deleted the blog and then couldn’t restart it as new.
So, I would like to reclaim cryo.wordpress.org
Thanks,

Hi there,
Do you perhaps mean https://cryo.wordpress.com? WordPress.org is a completely different website.
Deleted WordPress.com sites can only be restored for 30 days after deletion. Once those 30 days are over, all data related to the site is purged from our servers, and the address is permanently disabled.
I see you deleted that site almost eight years ago, so that address is no longer available and it’s no longer possible to delete that site.

Are you speaking of the reply you got from one of our volunteers to this thread you posted in 2016?

At the time you got that answer we did have a process in place whereby it was possible to recycle the addresses for some deleted blogs, but only under certain circumstances, so there’s no guarantee that would have been possible in the case of your site.
However, when the European privacy laws (GDPR) came into effect in 2018 we changed to the current process where deleted sites are completely purged after a certain time, so we won’t keep data for deleted sites on our servers indefinitely.
I realise this must be disappointing, but there’s no way for us to restore this site any more.
