There is no phone support here and this is the support forum for those who have free hosted WordPress.COM sites.
Help! Getting WordPress.com Support
WordPress.com offers a number of avenues for reaching helpful, individualized support, but sometimes it can be difficult to determine the best place to ask your question. This document details the various types of support offered for WordPress.com and WordPress.com-related services, and how to take advantage of them. https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/See also Five Leads for Self-Help with WordPress.com https://dailypost.wordpress.com/2016/01/14/help-with-wordpress-com/
There’s rarely a question asked here that has not been answered many times before so you can simply state what it is that you need help with in this thread. Please do that now.
When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. I did that for you. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question

Okay, here the problem.
1. Created an account for my start up yesterday.
2. Wrote down all the username, password, and email stuff as I went.
3. Can’t use it today, since I can’t get into it.
4. Can’t do a password reset since it won’t recognize the email address I wrote down for it.So, why should I “upgrade” with WP since it is so lousy with it services, and especially its customer service?
How’s that for a question?
-
Hi @mashanks, I’ll note if you have an account that has an upgraded plan, you can reach direct support. It’s not phone support, but it’s private. Or, we’re happy to help you here in our forums, too.
If you do already have an upgrade with us, you’ll want to log out then log into the correct account.
Noting as well, if your site is not hosted here at WordPress.com, you might contact your host or reach out in the forums for the free software: https://wordpress.org/support

Looks like you replied while I was responding.
I can see you’re logged into this account — can you link to the site you’re having trouble accessing?
-
This is my personal wp account. The account I am having a problem with is an account I started for a business start up. Looks like “timethief” lived up to her name, because she wasted my time.
How can I provide you with a link if I can’t access my new account. That doesn’t make sense to me.
What can I do to get back the account that I created yesterday. I don’t have to go to my “host” since they are the ones that handed me off to WP, and since I already have a person wp account, I thought it would be easy to use. I was wrong. Think I’ll post a youtube video about the entire nightmare.
What do you recommend. -
Okay, it may be hard for you people to understand, but I am not an IT expert, just someone trying to start up something on the web and social media. So, you should assume that I don’t know what I am doing.
What precisely do you mean by “the relevant URL”? Please use small words, and not a lot of words, I’m not that bright.
-
Do supernovia’s words above help?
I can see you’re logged into this account — can you link to the site you’re having trouble accessing?

Wow, as Paul Newman once said, “It seems that what we have hear is a failure to communicate.”
I bought the domain name: askabibleprof.com from hostgator about 2 or 3 days ago, and I chose wp as the web designer for the web site. Not only can’t I find my wp account, I can’t even get to the url site that I bought from hostgator.
Does that provide any insight about the problems I’m having?
-
Okay, called hostgator, they said my “URL” is as follows:
askabibleprof.com
Does this help at all?
-
Dear timethief and supernovia;
Just typed my domain name in my webbrowser, and then got my “underdesign” page from wp.
Just logged into the admin tab and got into the wp design page. This was so hard to do, I didn’t need to waste this much time. So my questions are these.
Do I only have one account with wp, which is the one that I am using now.
And then:
What did I sign into on my website’s domain name? Is that not a wp account? This is so very confusing.
-
Wow, it’s been over 3 hours on this issue, which is still unresolved, and it doesn’t appear that the “happiness engineers” really care about resolving it at all. Worse yet, I pretty much had to get my own answers. Why anyone chooses to use wp for to develop their business website is a mystery to me. Once I get up and running, I will not be upgrading with anything that has to do with wp business web development. Of course supernovia and timethief are not to blame, its wp’s business model and their lack of concern for their users. What an utter waste of time.

I’m just a volunteer, but can provide this piece of information:
Your site does not appear to be hosted here at WordPress.com according to whoishostingthis.com (and confirmed by your communication with hostgator). I do not understand your reference to hostgator “handing you off to WordPress. ”There are 2 main versions of WordPress. These forums offer support to sites hosted here at WordPress.com and using this version. Support for the WordPress that is used on hosted sites such as yours can be found at WordPress.org.
See a description of the 2 types of WordPress here:

Hi there,
I bought the domain name: askabibleprof.com from hostgator about 2 or 3 days ago, and I chose wp as the web designer for the web site.
That site is not with us on WordPress.com. You are using the open source WordPress software, installed on Hostgator’s servers for that site. We have no access and no control whatsoever over that site, and you cannot use your WordPress.com account credentials to log into that site – the login credentials for that site are saved in the site’s database on Hostgator’s servers.
Do I only have one account with wp, which is the one that I am using now.
Based on the information you provided in this thread, yes. Your Hostgator site is not connected to any other account on WordPress.com.
What did I sign into on my website’s domain name? Is that not a wp account?
You signed into your website’s admin account that was automatically created for that site when you installed the WordPress software on Hostgator’s server. Your credentials for that admin account will not work anywhere else but on that site.
Wow, it’s been over 3 hours on this issue, which is still unresolved, and it doesn’t appear that the “happiness engineers” really care about resolving it at all.
You posted in the public forums for free sites hosted on WordPress.com. Aside from the fact of your site not being hosted with us, this forum is primarily staffed by volunteers like timethief who have no access to user account information, and a few staff members like supernovia and myself. By the time you posted your follow-up replies, supernovia’s day had already ended and she was likely having dinner with her family. That does not mean she does not care about your issue.
Of course supernovia and timethief are not to blame, its wp’s business model and their lack of concern for their users.
“WordPress” is not a business. It is free, open source software developed and maintained by a community of volunteers, that anyone can download and use for any purpose they want. That community has written extensive documentation on this software which can be found at https://codex.wordpress.org/, and they provide support for that software in the self-hosted WordPress forums at https://wordpress.org/
There is no staff support for that software, because there is no company behind it to employ staff. Professional support for that software is paid, be it through hiring a professional developer to work on your site, paying a third-party support company, or paying your hosting provider itself extra for software support.
WordPress.com is a hosting provider, like Hostgator, who provides free and paid hosting on a modified version of the WordPress software. We provide staff support for free users in this forum, and private support for paid users via live chat and email, but we cannot provide detailed support for sites that are hosted with other service providers as we do not have access to those sites, or your account with that provider.

Wow, you have come the closest to answering my questions, and I appreciate your effort. However, what a poor business model for potential customers to be confused by multiple people who really don’t understand your issues. Nothing about this experience, or the length of time it took for a volunteer to come close to explaining the confusion wp has caused me. If I ever consider working with anyone with respect to web design, it will definitely not be with wp. Again, I appreciate that you tried to help me. Thanks.
