    I have not logged into WordPress for 7 years. Today I received an email congratulating me on the new above site. What’s going on here.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    I’m also going to flag this thread for Staff input. I think there must be a squirrel loose somewhere because this is the second instance of this I’ve seen in the forums today. Thanks for your patience.

    Hi, I have the same problem. I haven’t used WordPress.com in years and yesterday I received 3 emails from WordPress.com about the creation of a new site:

    Congratulations, your new site, 6qxly9rad7su0jo8.wordpress.com, is up and running!

    I did not create anything, I’m not even sure if the emails are really coming from WordPress but they seem legit. Please check what is going on here!

    Thanks for reporting this; we are already investigating the issue. I’ve also logged you out from any open sessions.

    In addition to deleting these sites, please change your passwords and enable two-factor authentication.
    Also, make sure you only use unique passwords.

    In addition to deleting these sites, please change your passwords and enable two-factor authentication.

    The emails were sent to an email address I used more than 10 years ago and it is not currently connected to WordPress.com, so I’m not willing to follow any links in the email to delete the new spam site.

    The emails were sent to an email address I used more than 10 years ago and it is not currently connected to WordPress.com

    It looks like someone has created an account with that email address, so I strongly recommend you log in with that address and close the account.
    The account was not verified, meaning the spammers don’t have access to your email, but it’s always good to update your passwords periodically and make sure you use a unique password for each service.
