I did not realize by purchasing a domain.

Hello, I didn’t realize by purchasing only the domain, my free hosting wouldn’t support the domain I purchased. It still shows as flourhourbakes.wpcomstaging.com despite entering in my domain FlourHourbakes.com

Is there a way I have my site revert back to flourhourbakes.wordpress.com ?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi there!

I see that the site address has now changed back to flourhourbakes.wordpress.com.

Without a WordPress.com plan, you basically register a domain that forwards to your WordPress.com site. That’s why you need to have a WordPress.com plan so that you can set your custom domain as the primary address of your site.

You also enjoy additional features (like removal of ads, additional storage space, and more, depending on the plan you purchase) by upgrading to a WordPress.com plan.

Our yearly WordPress.com plans include a domain registration for the first year. I can refund the $12 you paid for the domain registration if you upgrade to a yearly WordPress.com plan using the button below.

After upgrading, let us know, and we’ll refund the domain registration fee since it’s included with the yearly WordPress.com plans for the first year.

Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.

I was wondering about that and did not realize you had answered my question here. I canceled my domain but now in hindsight that was not the smartest plan since I may loose that domain name forever.

Is there anyway I can revert back to where my site was previously set up under .wpcomstaging so I can retrieve all of my contents? It appears all of my hard work disappeared since I was using plugins such as recipe card.

please help: is there a way I can recover my contents from my staging site while I had my creator trial? Or would I just have forfeit and loose everything if I don’t subscribe the $320?

    Hi there!

I was wondering about that and did not realize you had answered my question here. I canceled my domain but now in hindsight that was not the smartest plan since I may loose that domain name forever.

We can still restore the domain for you. If you’d like to restore just the domain (and don’t plan to use it with your WordPress.com site right now), please pay using the link I just emailed you. Let us know after you’ve paid so that we can restore the domain for you.

If you want to use the domain with your WordPress.com site, you can upgrade to a yearly WordPress.com plan, which includes a domain registration for the first year. We can use the free domain credit to restore the domain for you.

Because plugins require the WordPress.com Creator plan, you must upgrade to the Creator plan again to restore your site. You can upgrade to a monthly plan, which has a 7-day refund period, restore your site, and cancel within the refund period to get a refund.

Later, you can upgrade again to your desired WordPress.com plan if you wish to continue your site.

After upgrading to a monthly Creator plan, you can follow the steps at the link below to restore your site content:

    thank you for your help!

I have pay for the domain again using the email you send.

I will restore/renew the monthly plan to retrieve my contents and will reassess if I want to continue to keep or stick to the free plan until I am comfortable and have enough contents to keep the creator plan.

will I get notify when my domain gets restored?

  • Unknown's avatar

is there a gap waiting period after?
it keeps saying that my domain is parked and when I tried to put this back in, it said this domain is already mapped

    Hi there!

The domain has been restored. You will see it on your WordPress.com dashboard now.

Restoring a domain is a manual process, which is why I urged you to respond back here after paying. :)

Since the domain is on a free WordPress.com plan, it will redirect to the WordPress.com address at flourhourbakes.wordpress.com. If you want to point it elsewhere, you can do so by changing its nameservers.

If you upgrade to a WordPress.com plan, you can then set the domain as the primary address of your site by following this guide.

    Hope that helps!

    perfect. Thanks.
I did response immediately upon payment.

it is taken care of now and you can close that out.

    Hi there!

I just checked the domain, and it seems to be active on my end. Do you still see it parked?
