I do not see the “add new” tab on my THEMES page in the Appearance tab. I am trying to activate a new theme from a .zip file, but the option to “add new” is not there. Please help

Themes cannot be uploaded to WordPress.com, only self-hosted sites using WordPress.org. The difference between the two is described here:

i have deleted the wordpress.com site. Is there a simple way to install wordpress.org? my host is godaddy.com. I have looked on the web but I cannot find truly definitive and simple intructions. I see how to install wordpress on GoDaddy.com as your host, but is that wordpress.com or wordpress.org. If i need wordpress.org in able to upload a downloaded theme with a .zip file into the theme tab, then I need wordpress.org. I am however seeing, I believe, wordpress.com installs all over the internet when i search for help.

First, since you’ve deleted your WordPress.com site and would like to move to a self-hosted site, I’ve refunded your recent domain mapping purchase and removed all upgrades from your account so you will not be charged moving forward.
Whenever you’re installing WordPress on separate hosting (like GoDaddy), that’s referring to WordPress.org. The only way to setup a WordPress.com site would be at WordPress.com.
To get up and running, you’ll need to do the following:
1. Install WordPress.org on your GoDaddy hosting:

2. Make sure your domain is pointing to your GoDaddy hosting (looks like it is already)
