I do not want to map or do anything with the domain in order to use Jetpack

    Hi,

I’m starting a new site and want to use Jetpack (wordpress site). I do not want to move or do anything with my domain name to hook up my existing new website to Jetpack.

Sorry – I want to update: so when I went to hook my site to jetpack, I was taken through a series of screens. At number 5 of 6 screens I was asked whether I wanted to migrate my domain name or just have Jetpack or WordPress.com manage it. I want neither! Did not see an option to do just that – nothing. What do I do?

  • Hi there,

You only need a domain mapping upgrade if you have a domain registered at another provider that you want to use for a site hosted on WordPress.com. To create a site hosted on WordPress.com you go to https://wordpress.com/start/site/ and follow the steps. Jetpack has nothing to do with it.

If you already have a WordPress site at another host, and you want to connect it to your WordPress.com account using Jetpack, first log into WP-Admin on your site, and install the Jetpack plugin there. Then click on the Jetpack item that will appear in your dashboard menu, and follow the steps there to complete the connection process. You shouldn’t see anything mentioning domain mapping during that process.
