I don't have a clue; want to start a website (have very small 1-person business)
-
I don’t even know where or how to start. I want/need a website for my small pet sitting business. I don’t even understand some of the terminology (tagging, themes (although as I peruse the options I’m starting to “get it”), I’d like my domain to just say my business name and .com, I keep coming up “against” blog when what I want is a website with a possibility of a blog within it. I have an idea what I want website to look like. Is there a way to talk to someone to get started?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi wyzwmn13. I think I can help you. You can email me at (email visible only to moderators and staff) and we can talk further. How many pages are you looking for? Ex: Home, About Us, Contact Us
If you want a free website on this particular platform (wordpress), your website address will look something like this: http://petbusinessname.wordpress.com. However, you can also pay to buy a domain, you don’t have to use wordpress, you can check out pricing for GoDaddy or something similar as well. Typically you pay an annual fee to keep your domain name… mine is designbyv.com
Once you decide which hosting site you want to use/pay for, you get to select what your website looks like… that’s what “Theme” is. A “Theme” is a pre-made “look” for your website. WordPress specializes in blogs, that’s why you’re coming up against “blog” Themes.
That’s why I would suggest going with some other hosting site. However, if you do want to pay for hosting and reserve your domain page, you can also pay additional money for a “Theme” that is more representative of your business.
Email me if you would like to talk more.
