I don’t have a plugin tab!
-
Why don’t I have a plugin tab? I need to download some but obviously can’t access / install them w/o the tab. Why is it? Do I need to purchase something?
-
Before we answer that, you must give a link to your blog or link your nickname to your blog (as explained in the Sticky “8 Things to Know”).
-
Thank you (we need that to know if you’re in the right forum, often also because we can’t find what the problem is unless we check things in the blog itself).
Plugins are not allowed in wp.COM blogs; see the sticky post on wp.org vs wp.com.

Ah I see. Really, I haven’t had the need for additional plugins, just asking this out of curiousity.
Another problem, if you don’t mind, I have signed up for a hosting service via godaddy.com. Would you mind walking me through the steps to get my blog to be http://www.searchingforbillyedelin.com … does the .com and the .org come into play here once again?

Please search the FAQ for “Domain Mapping” or “Domain Upgrade” and you’ll find several threads of instructions there. It’s generally not advisable to undertake this change on the weekend, though. Wait till the week when full staff is on for Support.

If you’ve signed up for hosting, then you could download the wordpress.org software and set up your own blog. Or you can do the domain mapping as raincoaster says, which means you’ll still have a wordpress.com blog (with all the benefits and restrictions of that service), just with a different url appearing. Your choice.

nfmp – if you wish to map this domain to your WordPress.com blog, you can go to Settings -> Domains and add the domain to your blog. First, you must change your nameservers over at GoDaddy, so please review http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/10/domain-mapping/ before proceeding with the upgrade. Of course, if you run into any issues, please contact support.
