  You are confusing wordpress.COM hosted blogs with WordPress.ORG software installs. There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.

  WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.   If you want to hire a web host go to http://wordpress.ORG/hosting and then you can set up a wordpress.ORG install like the one depicted in the tutorial you referred to. Then, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

  My dashboard does not seem to have the same appearance as anyone else. I am very new to wordpress.com — I just made an account less than a month ago so I am not very familiar with it. But I was doing some research on how I could move my menu to the left sidebar and after watching a video I realized that my dashboard looks completely different and much more basic. I took a screenshot of it but I can’t seem to upload any pictures here to portray the screen I see… does anyone have any ideas on why this could be?
