I don't have the 'allow comments' box in Discussion section of my edit nav

  I have read the help article where I am directed to discussion- untick allow comments, but I don’t have an ‘allow comments’ box to untick- I do have the one around pingbacks which is also mentioned in the article but not ‘allow comments’.
  As a result I have ‘leave a reply’ boxes at the end of all of my pages and I want this removed as soon as possible.

  To globally allow or disallow comments on your site, you want these instructions:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/

  However, this will not change the settings on existing posts or pages. To remove commenting ability for existing posts/pages, you will need to turn them off individually using these instructions:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/#enabledisable-comments

  Ignore the top part and start at the “Enable/Disable Comments” section.
