I don\'t have the option to blog …
-
I don’t have a dashboard. I think I’ve messed up this account permanently and now I think I’ve lost the domain name I want.
I had one domain name, but wanted to delete the account (I had just successfully deleted another account). There was no “settings” option in “My Upgrades,” nor did I have a dashboard.
I changed my username and domain on the settings page, and that was successful … it’s now bitchandponder, but I don’t have a dashboard and I can’t blog … so I tried to delete this account, but I still can’t access “settings” or find any way to start over.
Help!?

I’m happy to try to help you. The first thing to do is to see if you have any sites remaining on WordPress.com
Do you see any sites listed when you go to this page?
-
Hi! I appreciate your help …
No, there are no sites listed, but when I try to put in the name I chose, it tells me it isn’t available … it WAS available when I changed my domain name to my chosen name.
So what now?

It sounds like you did delete it then, and there is no way to get it back. Here’s a little more on why blog names aren’t recycled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/.
If there is another name that you like (almost) as well, you could create a site with that URL.
If you really have your heart set on bitchandponder you could buy the domain bitchandponder.com and map it to your blog using the domain mapping upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-a-domain/
I know that wasn’t exactly what you wanted to hear, but hopefully one of the available paths forward will work for you.

I figured I’d blown it. I read why WP doesn’t recycle, and I get that. I also read about mapping … I may try that!
Thank you for your help!

What are the actual URL’s you want or had trouble with? that will help people to confirm what happened –
there have been some cases where a person opened a new account but logged back into the first account and other strange things spelling errors etc.
-
I opened an account in 2010 that was attached to the email I wanted to use for this new url. I think at some point, a couple of years ago, I tried to delete that first account … I can’t tell you what I did, but I think I messed it up then.
When I realized the original account was still there, I changed it and my username, but because it had been done incorrectly, I now can’t use the url I want. Very sad.
