I don’t know the differences between trasnfering my domain and connecting it.

What are the technical differences between that 2 option? Thanks

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  • Hi there,

Connecting a domain (also referred to as domain mapping) means that you connect your domain with your WordPress.com site, but you renew the domain at your registrar (where you bought the domain) and renew your site plan here at WordPress.com.

Domain Transfer means that your domain’s registration is moved over to WordPress.com, and we then become your registrar, so all future renewals of your domain and plan for your WordPress.com site are managed and paid on your WordPress.com account.

For more information on the differences, please visit:

I find that having your domain, site, and plan all with the same host works better, as it allows you to manage your entire site, make payments, ask for help all at the same place.

Please review our plans, as your domain will be renewed for another year. The Personal Plan is an excellent option for starting out, as it removes ads, provides 13 GB of media library space, allows you to make your domain primary, and more:

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks!
