I don't know what I'm doing. Help an old woman, please.

I’m 68 years old, just online for the first time, and I don’t know what I’m doing! I don’t want to write a blog, I just want to read some. I don’t understand any of your terms! What is a Widget? Where is my sidebar? Why do I have a sidebar? I don’t see any bubble, I don’t see any grid. I don’t have a blog! Are you reading this now??
My email is (email visible only to moderators and staff)

Ok, Ok, Ok. Take a deep breath and I’ll see if I can help you. If you go to my website, you’ll see a search box and a few other boxes that say “Recent Posts”, “Archives”, and “Categories”. Those are wigets and they are in the sidebar. Since you don’t have a blog, you really don’t need to worry about any of this, but if you do want a blog at some point, wigets will add additional functionality to your blog and they’ll be put in the sidebar. Does this make sense?

What actual difficulty are you having reading blogs? There are several billion of them now. Figure out a topic you want to read, and go to the web page that shows that tag, like http://wordpress.com/tag/cthulhu or whatever.

If you dont’ want to create a blog, don’t worry about terms for building blogs. You don’t have a blog, so it doesn’t apply. It’s like, if you just want to ride the subway, why would you read a train engineering report?

Reading a blog is just like reading any web site – just put together a bit different than some web sites (easy to see the most recent articles) – many news sites are really blog software – so you have probably been reading blogs for some time
