I need to point an existing site to this hosting platform. However, there is no information available to show me how to do this. Instead, I keep getting some weird blog site. Please let me know how to fix this. Also, why isn’t this intuitive?

Hi there,
To point a domain you already own to a WordPress.com site, you can follow this guide:
https://wordpress.com/en/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
Please note that for this to work, you’ll need a paid plan for the site.
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

Hi. I haven’t even gotten that far yet! I’m trying to set up a paid plan for a domain that I need to move over. I tried to set up a plan and ended up with this weird blog and could not find the credentials. Is there any easy way to do this to host a site?

Hi!
So, all sites on WordPress.com have an underlying _____.wordpress.com domain. That domain is replaced by a custom domain once you purchase a plan and set up your domain. You can find more info on domains and WordPress.com here:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/
If you have a domain registered elsewhere, you have two options. You can either leave your domain with your current registrar and connect it to your WordPress.com site using these instructions:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
Or you can transfer registration of your domain to WordPress.com using these instructions:
https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/
Functionally, it really makes no difference which you choose. Both work equally well and will send users to your site when they enter your domain into their browser.
What it really comes down to is if you have opinions on the ease of keeping your site billing in one place (one bill from WordPress.com vs a bill from WordPress.com and a bill from your domain registrar). Or if you have a particular reason to want to use an external registrar (perhaps you have many domains and want to keep them all registered in the same place).
A bit more information can also be found here:

Take a look at all of those links and let us know if anything is unclear or you have any further questions.
