I don't want to change DNS nameservers to WP
-
Hi!
I’m currently looking into WP.com for a company website (the less tech support they have to do, the better, so no self hosted solution if possible).
Obviously, we will need to use our own domain.
I have read the documentation about this, but there doesn’t seem to be an option on how to do this while keeping my current nameservers.
I want to keep my nameservers where there are now, because it works perfectly well right now for all our systems, and I don’t want to change this to something that the people in this company are not used to.What records do I have to add to use my own domain without changing the nameservers ?
Thanks

I’ve tagged this thread for Staff to provide an explanation of what domain mapping is and how it works and what your options are. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Hi there,
The most reliable way of pointing a domain to WordPress.com is to set its name servers to:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMIf you wish to point it without changing your name servers, you may use our IP addresses. But please bear in mind that these change over time, and your domain might suddenly not work. Please let us know if that happens so we can give you our most current IPs.
If you still want to go ahead and map your domain using A records, please be sure to create at least two, pointing to two different IPs from the list below:
66.155.9.238 66.155.11.238 76.74.254.120 76.74.254.123 192.0.80.250 192.0.81.250Let me know if you need anything else. Thank you!

Do you have an existing web site of some sort? even if it is just a single page?
If so you can map a blog here as a sub-domain to your existing site – i.e.
your-site.com
blog.your-site.com – to map to your blog here (note it does not need to be called “blog”
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/
that keeps the email untouched with no changes needed if you have it at your domain name

You be welcome – just trying to give them some options other than use the IP addresses which mean they need to keep track of the changing IP addresses

Hi!
Thanks for your replies. These are some good explanations here.
I’ll try this out, and if it really doesn’t work as I want, I guess I’ll just change the Nameserver anyway.
