I emptied my trash by mistake
-
I deleted and trashed all of the images in my media library. I did not think this would affect the use of these images in blogs I had already published.
Now, half of the images on my site are gone. Is there anyway wordpress can retrieve my trash so that my images are restored. My site is a disaster right now and I am dying.
Thank you!!

No, it does not. If you want to re-upload them, it’s a wise idea to change the filename first. WP does sometimes get confused when you use the same name for files.
And if there’s someone out there who told you to do this, to wipe out your media library, please let us know who it is. A LOT of people have been caught in this predicament lately, whereas we never used to see that happening. Someone out there must be telling people it’s a good idea, and either that person is ignorant or evil. We want to talk to that person.

Or boot their butts from here to eternity. What part of if it’s not in your media library, then it’s not on the wordpress.com servers are people missing?

I told someone to check their trash the other week because she deleted her pictures but then changed her mind and thought they were gone forever. She didn’t know you have to go to trash and delete for a second time with the second time being permanent.
You have 8 months of archives with several in each. maybe just go back and re-upload them all. Do one month each day so you won’t get too overwhelmed. Give them a new file name because as raincoaster said, WordPress can get confused with the same names. Or add an _ which I have done and it turns out fine.
