  What exactly happens when you try? Are you getting any sort of an error message?

  Thanks rootjosh. After persisting and much trial and error I managed to change form simonfitzjoe (now deleted) to Name of Website (joeslocalbands). I posted new link to Facebook page but images did not show? Also when I Google address still comes up with old one (maybe it takes a few days for Google to catch up? Thanks for reply. Wish WordPress itself would get involved in solving issues instead of leaving it to forums.

  that is correct – to help search engines along – make a few new Posts at the new address
