I found the xml file to export but I can't read it
-
I’ve been trying to change my website from Blog. com to you. I learned that I need the xml file that exports/imports the file to you. I found it. When I went to my C drive to make sure the info was correct it says it can’t read it because of an “atom” error that seems to have something to do with the feed. If I can’t read it would you be able to? If not, what would I need to do to eliminate the error? Also – if it can be fixed would anything have to be done to make sure that the feed continues to work. I did copy all my posts at blog.com just in case, and when I have it straightened out I will point the nameservers back to you. Thank you

Hi there!
If I’m understanding correctly, you have an export file from your site at blog.com. And when you open this file on your own computer, you see an atom error.
Have you tried importing the file to your WordPress.com site anyway?
Often these errors are due to strange characters in your feed. To fix this, you’ll need to contact support at Blog.com and get your feed fixed. Then you can re-export your site and import it here.

I have a problem. There is NO support at blog.com. One of the reasons I’ve been trying to leave them since may with one problem after another. They have place you can even ask a question. They have an area where you can ask a standard question in a search box but they only have a standard answer. Unfortunately this question doesn’t exist in their format. The lights are on there but no one is home. I didn’t try to put it in here. I haven’t been able to work on my writing. if I point my name servers here it takes days to get here and I have no way to get to my content or dashboard. So then I have to take a couple more days to point it back to blog so I can post anything. So if I point it back to you to see if you can read this file when I can’t read it here and lose my blog yet again I want to know if that has been done successfully before. Someone at WP must have come across this problem before and knows what to do, because I will not ever be able to get the answer at blog.com

Typo in my message at the beginning. Blog does NOT have an area where you can ask a question and someone answers

Another question. Even though the name servers are pointed back to blog.com if I type the website in the browser it doesn’t point it back to blog.com it tries to pull it up at WordPress and it can’t of course. I thought it should be pointing back to blog.com. The only web address that will pull up my site at blog.com is the one I had before I bought the domain which is sonniquick.blog.com. Sine I pointed the nameservers back to blog.com at the beginning of the week why isn’t my web address working?
I checked the feedvalidator and it says the sonniquick.blog.com feed it working but mynameisjamie.net is not. -
I’m sorry Blog.com doesn’t have live support for you. Can you try importing the XML file into your WordPress.com site? I’m pretty sure that it should work correctly. If it doesn’t, let me know.
As for your name server issue, I just visited mynameisjamie.net and was directed to your Blog.com site. Once you’ve got your WordPress.com site completely set up, you can change the name servers and your site will appear as you like.
While your domain is pointing to Blog.com, you can still access your dashboard, create posts, and design your site here:

My name servers are pointed back to here. I have a an xml file on my hard drive from blog.com. It has an atom error and I can’t open it but you told me to try anyway and see if it works. I went to tools>import but I can’t see how to do it from there because I’m not importing from any of the places on your list. How do I do it?

Hi!
If you choose the WordPress option (Tools -> Import -> WordPress), it should allow you to upload an xml file from your hard drive. Can you give that a try?

The xml file is a plain text file – you want to read it with a plain text editor such as Notepad – just clicking on it will probably confuse most Word Processing programs
