    I have tried for the past 5 days to create a web site that I want. All I get is a blog – whatever that is. The help topics are no help: first they are videos that go so fast that nothing registers. It would have been nice if there were text that I could read and try each thing presented.
    Half the time, I try to make a change and wind up losing what I had already entered.
    I had thought that the site might use something like PHP but there is no information on implementing it.
    So, please cancel idlegion39.com.

    I think this is an example of a basic misunderstanding. A blog is a post based website. Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based (blog style) to being page based (website style) – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > Five Step Blog Setup

    A blog is a website. The difference between blog and website is simply structure and semantics.

    A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.

    What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one-way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.

    • WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund from date of purchase on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
    • The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.
    • It takes from 1 – 2 weeks or 7 – 10 business days for the refund to be received after canceling an upgrade and requesting one. (Depending on the country you live in it may take a little longer to get to your bank.)

    Cancelling domains
    It is important to know that cancelled domains are not released by the registrar immediately. Also note that here’s no guarantee you’ll be able to use a domain again as it may be sold to someone else. Therefore you should cancel a domain, if and only if, you are sure you do not wish to use it again.

    Also, if you’re 100% positive you don’t want to try letting staff help you set this up, at this point note I can cancel everything except the domain.

    Based on a previous response, I’ll try clearing out everything and start over.
    My sincere appreciation for the text help files.
    What little I can understand of CSS, it is entirely different from my previous web host.
    As far as using themes, it doesn’t help that that is the fisrst thing asked when starting a new site.
