I got deactivated! Help!

This morning I wrote a lengthy review of a book on Goodreads. Just in case you don’t know, Goodreads is a social networking site. It’s for fun. There’s no money or sales involved for any users of the site.

Part of my review I thought was relevant to my blog http://vegemitecroissant.wordpress.com/ so I posted that part of the review to my blog also. I then thought if people were interested they could read the full review so I linked to that on Goodreads. I added the picture of the book because I know that’s considered fair use. Maybe that’s the big issue. Who knows?

It seems like it was probably an automated trigger or alert (with a busy person clicking “yes it’s spam” “no it’s fine”), but it is a little annoying. It would also be nice if an email was automatically generated every time WordPress.com deactivates a site. I’m kind of annoyed that I only saw the deactivation message because I happened to be adding some links to the site. Anyway, it seems I got the stock standard message (shown at the bottom of the post). I wrote to support using the link provided, but I haven’t heard a response yet.

I can only think that someone thought I was promoting affiliate sales or had copied content from someone else. The content was mine, albeit elsewhere. It was not an excerpt of the book or someone else’s review – it was an excerpt of my own review. It linked to another site, but it’s not an affiliate site. It’s not sales.. it’s just more information. Written by me.

The only reason I didn’t post all of the review on the Vegemite Croissant blog is that it’s not directly relevant to that blog. The people who read that blog are only interested in stuff related to being in France and being an expat.

*sigh* Anyway, I hope it all gets resolved and I get the site back online soon. Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to alert support to fixing this up.

    Ange.

Sorry this is a matter that the forum volunteers won’t & can’t get involved with this is solely between you and Staff. I read in your post you used the link to contact staff you will just have to wait until they reply back to you ( I recommend checking your email spam folder from time to time because sometimes staffs response end up there.

I realise you guys can’t necessarily help, but here’s an update. This morning I got an email saying it had been re-activated and they were sorry. But, less than an hour later it’s been deactivated again.

Obviously wordpress.com isn’t keeping a whitelist and something on my blog is triggering the auto-deactivate. Anyone care to speculate? Maybe next time I’m reactivated I can quickly change that one thing in time to not get deactivated again.

    *rolls eyes* :)

Update your site just loaded just find for me if you still can’t get your site to load it might be that your browser is relying on a old cache version of your site so I recommend trying a force reload. here is the FAQ on this http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
