I had a previous account and now I need help to access it
-
I initially had an account with you but I’ve lost access to it. At the time I was attending university they changed the email address so I was unable to recover my account because the extension changed from (email visible only to moderators and staff) to (email visible only to moderators and staff). Can you please help me recover this? I can provide my Driving License ID which verifies my identification.

wordpress.com has a rather strict policy regarding giving access to accounts. To restore access to your lost account, follow instructions at https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

That’s not useful – as an example if the account used to have an email extension as follows: my.university.ac.uk and it changed to university.ac.uk. I’m now requesting to reset my password but that email won’t send because the emails aren’t being redirected university.ac.uk. So I have no way of resetting my password. How can I sort this out?

@reader9990, you’re welcome to try to remember your old password. Or, find the email we sent when the account was created. It has a code you can use to regain access.
You might also ask the university about whether they’ll forward email from the old address to the new. I’m sure you’re not the only one running into issues with that, and it shouldn’t be hard on their end to make it work.

I can’t remember my old password. I thought as part of my rights to my data I wanted to get through to someone in Support Team so that I can prove that it is my account and that I’d like to close it. Can you explain that process please?

Please send an email to
passwordhelp (at) wordpress (dot) comexplaining the situation, and we’ll see if there’s anything we can do for you.
