I had a site which disappeared and I would like to reinstate it
-
Hi there, I had a site on wordpress and I logged in today and all of my content has been deleted, my formatting is gone, the images are gone, there’s nothing there now at all. This was a fairly active that I maintained for a little while and then I stopped posting on it due to the frequent hacking attempts which were a chore. However I don’t see where my content should have been deleted.
So how do I regain my content and site reinstatement, please and thanks!
Cheers,

It doesn’t seem like that site was hosted on WordPress.com so we can’t help you with that. You will want to reach out directly to your host or write on the community forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:
https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.

It was initially hosted on WordPress for free.
When I signed up, I created the site with WordPress.com (on WordPress, really) and then I eventually migrated it from free WordPress hosting to Bluehost.
My site stayed around after I discontinued the Bluehost hosting, though; it reverted to its free WordPress site status.
The empty site that I login to now is accessed through WordPress.com. So that’s where I’m looking since the hosting was initially WordPress, went to Bluehost for a custom domain.
There’s no way to login on WordPress.org and my account is here on WordPress.com.

What is the URL of this original WordPress.com site?
The account you’re using to post here has only ever owned one site with us, efpsite.wordpress.com. That site was created in 2016, and has never had any content added to it. If you had a site with us at some point containing some content, it had a different address and was created under a different account.
then I eventually migrated it from free WordPress hosting to Bluehost.
When you did that, you moved your site’s content away from our servers, to Bluehost’s servers instead. So from that point onwards, your site’s content was no longer with us, and your content would not have automatically moved back to us once your hosting at Bluehost expired.
If Bluehost has removed your site’s files from their servers and they no longer have a backup copy, then your content is now gone.

WordPress.org is the website where the open source WordPress software is made. You only need a WordPress.org account to post in those forums, not to use that software, so if you’ve never used those forums before, you won’t have an account there. That doesn’t change the fact that you were using the WordPress.org software for your site hosted at Bluehost.
