I Hate Current Sharing to Facebook's System and Design
-
Hey developer. My blog is albadrln.wordpress.com and I connect my blog to my Facebook account. It has been great and helpful to me.
But nowadays, I hate it because:
1) Most of the time it is not connected. I don’t know why. I searched and it seems many of the wordpress-er face this problem. But this is not an issue since I can share it manually. Actually, this is better considering this second reason.
2) The real issue is this. The System and maybe Design of the post on the Facebook. I don’t know whether this is your fault (wordpress dev) or Facebook’s fault.
I will elaborate it. When I write something on my blog and share it to my Facebook profile, it means I want my friend to visit the article. I shared the article after all. I don’t want it make an album in my Facebook and share just the photos… Get it?
But, nowadays, the status (of WordPress activity) showing my the blogpost’s pictures just like an album. Well, in fact it made an album in it. That’s great but, there is no link to my blog post!!
There is actually but to small and we must first click the picture and realise that there is tiny link on the title of the picture. I hate it very much. This is a screenshoot to it:
No link at all on news feed: http://albadrln.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/bad-wp-on-news-feed.png
Small link on top of the status on timeline: http://albadrln.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/bad-wp-on-timeline.png
On picture view, there is link, but who notices? : http://albadrln.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/bad-wp-on-picture-view.pngMy suggestion is back to old system when you show one of the picture and a big link to the article. Just like this:
http://albadrln.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/better-wp1.pngOr if you can, modified above screenshot so that the status show more than one image but still refer to the shared article (or one image but big spread – I think I saw the design like that last year and I like it).
Additionally, it disrupt the custom message – excerpt part. Why it should also quote the first paragraph of my article if I already added a custom message that resume the article in the first place?
On the screenshoot here http://albadrln.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/bad-wp-on-news-feed.png the second paragraph is unnecessary…
Thanks, I hope this feedback can be reviewed and commented by the team.
On current design, I think this sharing to facebook feature is useless and is better to manually share the article. (Thank god sometimes the FB sharing doesn’t work). I usually do that by copying the entire custom message into my FB’s status.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Honestly, it sounds like you should disconnect Publicize and manually share to FB, where you can control the variables.

Yes.
But I still have a high expectation for this sharing capability and looking forward to see an improvement. I am excited when I found the big-spread-picture last year…
And quite happy to find the album-like status, many pictures approach.
I just disappointed in the disappearance of hyperlink to the article. This topic is not for complaining but just like a feedback or idea for further development… I am sorry if it sounds like one.

No worries, I don’t work for WP.com so I don’t take it personally.
I think the problem is on FB’s side. I’ve been sharing links manually from many different platforms and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. They’re clearly messing around with their link posting for some reason.
