  I started out by making a blog through wordpress.com, only to find out that I can install wordpress.org through the host I already have for my personal website.

  Now I have essentially the same blog in 2 places. I would like to get rid of the wordpress.com account and either free up the URL so i can be used by someone else, OR delete all the content and hang on to the URL myself just in case the need for it arises in the future.

  The documentation said to contact the “Happiness Engineers” about this issue.

  You have only one post, an about page, and a few pictures. You can empty the contents of your WordPress.com site very easily:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/
  If you want to free up the name, then make the privacy settings to public but not searchable:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  Ask search engines not to index this site. – If you want all human visitors to be able to read your blog, but want to block web crawlers for search engines, this is the setting for you.

  Do that so if someone else wants the name he or she can leave a comment asking you to transfer the url.
  If you want to keep the name just in case you’ll ever want it, then choose option #3

  I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose
