I have 3 MB of space, what do I do when it's used up?

I’m approaching my size limit

1) optimize your images before you upload them and you should not run out of space ever
2) you can host the images elsewhere, like Flickr or a separate WP.com blog, and hotlink them
3) you could buy a space upgrade, but be aware you have to renew it each year.

I’m not OP but am interested in this topic. How do you optimize your images before uploading?

You open them in a graphics program and usually they have a default setting. If not, change the resolution to 72 dpi and resize them to the size you want in your blog. Then upload them.

I’ve been uploading photos into my blog that are 1000 px wide and I always have to change them to be 427 px wide or else they are blurry. I just tried resizing them in my photo editor to 427 px wide so I don’t have to resize after uploading them, but they appear blurry in the post! I don’t understand why they appear blurry. The resolution has always been set to 72 dpi.
