I have a blog wordpress site, I can see it on the web under the following domain stuffladieslike.blog

  but when I click on the ‘my site’ icon, it invites me to create a site, not edit the one it’s attached to.

  It sounds like you’re not logged into the WordPress.com account that actually owns that site. Is maureenfriend yours? Try logging out of your friendmaureen account and logging into maureenfriend instead. If you’ve lost the login details for that account, you can recover it here.
