  I have been creating a blog to document my first child’s first year. I am ready to upgrade because I am out of space. I am concerned that I am going to invest money in more space, but worry that down the road I won’t have access to this site and all of its memories that I want to look back on and share with him and others. I would appreciate feedback, if possible

  I understand your concern, but I can assure you that within a few steps you can remove any worry!

  Firstly, you can frequently export your website. This will serve as a back-up for all your content, so you can always import it again to look back on it: https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

  Secondly, you can use a third party program to screenshot the content of your website. Perhaps the most popular of these is this one, and it means you can enter the URL how ever many years into the future and see your site on the day you saved it: https://archive.org/web/

  Should you lose access to your site completely, you can always recover your account and then get access to your dashboard once again: https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/
