  I already have a domain – when does it move to WordPress? I would want it to move ONLY when I’m happy with the new site.

  Hi there, do you currently have a site hosted here on WordPressdotcom or are you referring to a WordPress software install on a different web hosting provider?

  If you have a WordPressdotcom website, you can map your existing domain once you have completed building your site. More about domain mapping here https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  Domain mapping is included in all the available upgrade plans except the Blogger plan: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  If you want to transfer your existing domain to WordPressdotcom so you can manage it alongside your upgrade plan, you can follow this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/prepare-domain-for-transfer/
