    I got a domain but I don’t think I went any farther than that. I just want the basic website for now but don’t know what to do next. WoodenWordsDesign.com

    Ok so, to explain what stage you’re at currently – it looks like the domain has been purchased via https://www.omnis.com/, and so at some stage this would need to be connected to WordPress.com, as per these steps: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

    Out of curiosity, are you creating a website for a small business and/or to showcase a body of work? I’d love to know more about the site you’re looking to build so that I can offer some help and advice.

    Generally speaking, the steps are as follows:

    1. Create a site: It’s possible to create a site via this link here: https://wordpress.com/start/user. In order to set a custom primary domain, a paid plan (at a minimum the Personal plan) would be required. Thankfully, WordPress.com offers a variety of pricing plans, you can review and choose what works best for you at https://wordpress.com/pricing/.
    2. Connect your domain: Once you’ve selected a plan and created your WordPress.com account, you need to connect your existing domain (WoodenWordsDesign.com) to your new site by following these steps: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
    3. Choose a theme: WordPress has numerous themes to choose from, suitable for various website styles. Browse through the theme selection at https://wordpress.com/themes/, and consider choosing one that best represents what you need (for example a business or portfolio if that’s the case).
    4. Customize your site: After choosing a theme, you can customize your site by adding pages, posts, images and choosing your own style. This support article will help guide you in customizing your site: https://wordpress.com/support/start/ – but this is also theme specific.
