I have a domain however the URL is different to the domain

i bought the domain ‘videtur.co.uk’, and when I type in ‘videtur.co.uk’ into the URL bar, it leads to my website. However, after typing in this domain, it changes to ‘videturcouk.wordpress.com’.

    How do I solve this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

The reason you see videturcouk.wordpress.com instead of videtur.co.uk is that your site is currently using the free subdomain as its primary address. To make your domain your site’s primary address, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan.

Given your website’s content, I recommend you to consider our Premium plan. It comes with advanced design tools, increased storage, and the ability to monetize your site through various tools.

After purchasing the plan, you can easily set your domain as your primary address by following this guide:

    WP
Domains » Set a Primary Address

Your primary site address is the domain that people will see in their browser’s address bar when they visit your site. It is the address you use to promote your website. With a WordPress.com plan, you can set a custom domain as the primary site address. Without a paid plan, all custom domain(s) on the site will automatically redirect to your free .wordpress.com or .wpcomstaging.com site address

If you have any further questions or need help with any step of the process, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help.

OK I have purchased the Personal plan as it comes with a domain, but I still can’t use this domain?

  • After purchasing the paid plan, all you need to do now is set videtur.co.uk as your site’s Primary domain. Follow this guide to complete that step: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address/

Once that’s complete your site should then appear almost immediately at https://videtur.co.uk
