  I have a domain name with another provider. Can I create a word press site before I pull the domain over to word press?

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  Hi there,

  We can definitely help with this. What you could do is create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a .wordpress.com or a .home.blog subdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com, so you can just use that as the domain while building the site, and determine whether or not this is the platform you want to use. The site starts off private until you are ready to launch it. This will allow you to keep your current site running while you work on the new one.

  Once you are done developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain over, connect an existing domain, or even registering a new one.
