I have a domain with Weebly.

    Hello, WordPress experts:

I just found out WordPress recently and interested in transferring my website and building my blog here with WordPress. I have a domain name http://www.sudhanashealingsolutions.com and still one year term to go with Weebly. I have read your help topics regarding transferring sites but being told that it is difficult to do so from Weebly. It is true? Also, before transferring to WordPress, can I use ‘sudhanashealingsolutions’ as subdomain name here? Please kindly advise.

    Thanks for your attention.

  • Hi there,

You’ll need to find out from Weebly if you’re able to map your domain with them to a different host. If they don’t allow you to point a domain away from them using name servers or A-records, you’ll need to transfer the domain from them to another domain provider who does allow it. Then you can point the domain to us from there.

To connect the domain here you’ll need the domain mapping upgrade which is included in all our paid plans:

Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)

Migrating your content across is where the trouble lies. Weebly doesn’t offer an export file, so you’ll need to first migrate from them to another service that allows RSS imports, and then export your content from there as a file that can be used here:

    Import

Also, before transferring to WordPress, can I use ‘sudhanashealingsolutions’ as subdomain name here?

Do you mean for your free *.wordpress.com address? It looks like sudhanashealingsolutions.wordpress.com already belongs to your account. If you click on My Sites ->Switch Site you should see it listed there.

    Hello, Kokkieh:

I believe it will be easier for me to just rebuild my website again with WordPress bit by bit now till the term is up. It won’t be too hard.

    Thank you for your reply.
