  I have a few free websites on wordpress.com
  Will I eventually have to pay for the domains?

  Only if you decide you want to upgrade at some point (as there are limits on what you can do with free sites…no plugins…ads displaying etc etc). Otherwise you can keep your free sites until the end of time/until the Martians invade, whichever comes first.
