I have a free wordpress.org account; trying to migrate to a paid-for wordpress.com account

  Long ago I signed up for free account; yesterday I paid to purchase a domain hosted by wordpress. I received confirmation from hostgator that I now am registered for the domain but wordpress.com sent me no such confirmation and tells me there is no such account, do I want to pay them to get started, would I like to pay them to get started. No, actually, I don’t. Where do I go from here?

  Hostgator and WordPress.com are two different places. You either pay Hostgator to host your domain on their servers or you pay WordPress.com for a Personal plan or higher to enable you to map your Hostgator domain to a site on WordPress.com servers.
