I have have recently acquired a second wordpress domain, (millefeuilleslace.com). I would like to know if I am able to use it to sell necklaces ? These are necklaces that I buy first from a cooperative then subsequently sell on my own account.

I’m thinking of upgrading to ‘business’ to be able to sell. Are there themes that are specifically adapted to e-commerce? Or are all/most/ some themes enabled for that purpose?

No, the e-commerce plugins work independently from the themes and so can be used with any theme.
We currently offer three e-commerce partners, as listed here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/
By way of example, with Shopify, you paste a shortcode on your WordPress.com site where you want a product to appear, and it embeds it automatically for you. The default layout is fairly plain, so it generally fits in with most themes, however, with Shopify (may not be the case for the other two), you can also tailor the appearance of the products when you embed them. With a business upgrade, if I choose a theme which doesn’t seem to be in the 305 or so WordPress default themes is there an additional cost if it is a theme not actually found on the WordPress site?

Hi Chris,
On WordPress.com, the only choices available to you are those found in the theme directory. For security reasons, users cannot upload themes that may have purchased from other sites. I am sure that you’ll be able to find a suitable one from our excellent selection though :)

Hi…again. I just might be turning into a pest. I don’t think I explained myself clearly in the previous mail.
What I saw when I googled “best WordPress ecommerce themes” was that it came up with a whole bunch which did look very well adapted. But they did not exist in the WP site. Maybe I’m missing something here. -

Yes, this is because WordPress is open-source software which anyone can install on any server. We run a special version of that software here on WordPress.com, but to protect our systems, we limit the ability to upload your own themes and instead provide a gallery of tested themes to choose from.
The themes that you found were for people who installed WordPress themselves on their own server. If you’re interested in this option, there’s some more information about it here: WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
