I have a private blog but it seems not to work

    I don’t receive the confirmations that people accept my invitation to follow my blog. Followers of my blog don’t receive email that the blog has new posts.

    I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Will you please provide a couple of usernames for those WordPress.com bloggers who did not receive the emailed invitations as well as a couple of email addresses for those who do not receive the posts? The software will automatically redact ie. HIDE the email addresses so only Staff can see them. After you do that subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

    The blog is in the start up face. I have invited first just one person. From her I got a confirmation that she accepted my invitation. However she tagt the following button and I did not receive that. I invited my wife, who is an active blogger. She receives the invitation. When she subscribes she got the message:”you are already subscribed” but I dont receive a confirmation only the message “awaiting”. I have invited three new persons to my blog but nothing seems to happen. It remains in the status “awaiting”. A new post is not anounced to the five people.

    Sending usernames and hiding the email adres I don’t know how to do that.

    Technical details. We are working from a normal Dell laptop but have also installed WordPress on our Kindle Fire. The blog of my wife is working fine. That is an open blog.

    Sorry for the problems you’re having with this. I’m not aware of any system occurences currently affecting our emails or invites. As I look into Settings -> Reading in your dashboard:

    I am seeing “millyfromitaly” and “joanmarran” as current viewers. Can you kindly resend the invites to the other users and see if the problem persists? Here’s a support page that can help:

    Milly and Joan dont get post updates. Milly, although I have resend three times and she confirmed three times is still in “waiting” status. One of the new persons I received today a mail with the comment that she was not able to logg in so far. That was before I resend the invitation today again to three persons. All three i have invited three times now.
    Something is seriously wrong but trust you will resolve it. It is such a wonderful product.
    Thank you for your help.
    Will let you know if someting is going to change.

    Hello
    Thank you for this reply. Milly looked into her reader settings and changed her settings. Directly I received her status update from waiting into accepted. As I understand now, not the following option click, but the reader settings as well.
    How should I instruct people opening up a new WordPress account?
    Is clicking on following not sufficient?
    Still waiting on the results of the new invited people. Will inform you.

    Hey there!

    Clicking on “Follow” is good enough, only that your followers would need to manage their settings to indicate how they’d like to receive updates from your blog. No need to instruct them to open a new account.

    Hi Andrew . One new person changed status into accepted. I have not completely understand what was wrong if any. Maybe incompetence of new invited people, maybe a private blog is a little more to understand how to participate. I hope it is fine now and I want to thank you for your time and efforts.
