I have a private registration but still received an email solicitation

  Hi,

  I purchased a private registration but today I received an email to my personal email account – the one that is not made public on my website — offering to sell me a domain name similar to mine. So they were somehow able to figure out that my email was the one attached to the website. Can you help me figure out how this happened? Thanks so much.

  The Private Registration comes with an email which forwards to your main email address.

  This is an automated process which weeds out most of the spam, but sometimes things get through when they seem legitimate enough.

  Rest-assured, they do not have your real email address, and it won’t happen often.
