I have a sales question.

I have three blogs running Jetpack: The Transamorous Network, Copiosis and Positively Focused. I notice the free publicize has now become a paid-for product. Ok. But each of my sites show different amount of remaining shares in the next 30 days available under the free plan. When did that 30 day period begin and when does it reset? I think my publishing frequency is sufficient to be included in the free plan, but it depends on when the first 30-days under the new regime began. Can someone help please?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @perkygrubb, it’s a rolling counter, so it’s looking for how many shares you’ve had in the past 30 days from today. I hope that helps. The paid plans help us cover our costs and keep the free features free.

Hey @supernovia thanks for your reply. I understand about needing to cover costs. Capitalism sucks that way. Can you tell me when the rolling counter resets? By my calculations, none of my three sites should violate or go past that 30 post limit in the free plan. If you can tell me when it resets that would be very helpful. That way I can tell for sure if I need to buy the paid plan.

    Thank you?

Hi again @supernovia. I just realized I should provide more detail. So here it goes:

I’m assuming “shares” means each time a post on my website(s) gets shared on a DIFFERENT site such as Facebook, Linked-in or Tumblr. Is that correct? If that’s correct, then here’s how I post on my sites:

I post once a week on each site. So…

Posts from Copiosis.com gets “shared” to Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and Linked-In. That’s 4 “shares” times 4 posts every 30 days (four weeks). That equals 16 shares…well under thirty. So of the Free plan’s 30 share limit, Copiosis.com should have a 14 share surplus every 30 days. Yet, my Jetpack admin page on a new post I’m writing is warning me that “You have 6 shares remaining in the next 30 days. Upgrade now to share more.” Even with five weeks in a month (five posts) I should still have a 10 share surplus (5 posts X 4 shares = 20 shares), right? (picture is the new post and the warning message)

Posts from transamorousnetwork.com gets “shared” to Twitter, Facebook and Linked-In. That’s 3 “shares” times 4 posts every 30 days (four weeks). That equals 12 shares…again, well under thirty in 30 days. So out of the Free plan’s 30 share limit, transamorousnetwork.com should have an 18 share surplus every 30 days. Yet, my Jetpack admin page on a new post is warning me that “You have [only] 10 shares remaining in the next 30 days. Upgrade now to share more.” Even with five weeks in a month (five posts) I should still have a 15 share surplus (5 posts X 3 shares = 15 shares), right? Please help me understand what I am not understanding. Here’s a screen shot:

Finally, on positivelyfocused.co, the message is even more dire. Just as with transamorousnetwork.com, posts from positivelyfocused.co gets “shared” to Twitter, Facebook and Linked-In. So the math should be the same as with transamorousnetwork.com. Yet, the message I have on my new blog post is “You have [only] 3 shares remaining in the next 30 days. Upgrade now to share more.” Again, even in a five week month (five posts) I should still have a 15 share surplus (5 posts X 3 shares = 15 shares), right?

This is why I’m reaching out. IT COULD BE MY BAD MATH. But it also might be that I don’t understand what “shares” means. If you could help me understand this, I can make an informed decision as to whether I need to buy a plan or stick with the free one. It seems the free one should work given my math. But I’m a writer. Not a math major! 🤷🏽‍♂️

Can you tell me when the rolling counter resets?

I have asked our team if they can let us know what time the rolling count resets and we will get back to you on that.
