I try to log in for editing purposes but am unable to do so. It says I am using the wrong password and name. I am using the only ones I know
I have created a new site with the same name and wish use it or activate the old one.

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Unknown
    Correct account: Unknown

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

The only sites I see on your @cliffsstuff WordPress.com account when I check on our end are listed here:

    – cliffsstuff.wordpress.com

Is it possible you created your site under a different login?  Is it the case that you are using another provider like GoDaddy, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc. instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?

Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

I have no idea how to explain this.
Ten-Twelve years ago I opened a free WordPress site and posted all of my Books, articles, and a daily blog for about a year. In late 2010 I began my daily blog on Facebook and stopped using WordPress. It has been idle all this time and a few days ago I attempted to create a link to it on my Facebook account. I found I was unable to come up with the correct account name and or password.
I then opened a new ‘free’ WordPress site under the same name as the first one
So now I think I have two sites on WordPress with the name Cliffs Stuff. The old site contains my postings and my new site is bare.
I can find no way to delete the new site or to enter the old site.
I’m confused. I wonder which site you can find or perhaps can you find them both?
If I use ‘Cliffs Stuff WordPress.com’ on my desk top browser I can find the old site but can not enter it to edit or add to it.
I wish to activate the old site or transfer the contents to the new site.
I hope some of this makes some sense. Help, and good luck.
Clifford A Elford PS: I don’t understand ‘different login’ ‘Another Provider’ or URL.. unless you are refering to the address https://(email visible only to moderators and staff)

  • Hi there,

So now I think I have two sites on WordPress with the name Cliffs Stuff. The old site contains my postings and my new site is bare.

We can’t find a site on WordPress.com based on the name alone – site titles are not unique, and you can change it whenever you want, so it’s not something we index.

We can only find a specific site via the unique example.wordpress.com address associated with that site. That’s the URL you see in the browser address bar when you look at the site, which you’ve indicated above is https://celford52.wordpress.com/

That site was created under a completely different username account, and associated with a different email address, than the cliffsstuff username you used to post here. So you need to log out of the cliffsstuff account, and log back in as the username, celford52

If you don’t remember the login details for the celford52 account, please follow our account recovery process at https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/ so we can help you regain access.

If you’re not able to provide any of the verification info we require in our account recovery form, we won’t be able to give you access to the other account and site.

Thank you, now explain how I can delete the new Cliff Stuff site I created. I searched all over and can’t find the instructions for deleting a site.
I’m slow, but I’m old. Cliff

  • You can delete an undesired site by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/

Thank you, I did delete the new site created 2 days ago. I hope this does not delete the old site created 10-12 years ago.
New problem: I am able to access and read my old site but need a way to renew my membership so I can enter this site and add to it. Can you help me with this?

Thanks, I did that but got a notice that I do not have a WordPress site. I know I do because I have found a way to get to it and read it. I wish to find a way to begin using it again. After so many years will this be possible and if not is there a way I can open a new site and transfer my old site contents to the new site?
Thank you for suggestions how to proceed, no hurry. Cliff Elford

  • Hi there,

To clarify, the site you are trying to access is https://celford52.wordpress.com/ yes?

As others here have mentioned, it appears you have more than one login with us. The site is not under your @cliffsstuff login but a different one you have created with us in the past. You need to log out of this account and log into that one instead.

If you cannot recall how to log in to your other account, please instead reach out to our account recovery team at: passwordhelp@wordpress.com

We are not able to help with account access requests here in our public forums but the folks there will be able to assist you further, thanks!
