I have been hacked. How do i talk to a person at wordpress?

What is the address of the site you need help with and is it hosted here at WordPress.com?

Hi my website pvuk.com has been hacked today and is redirecting. It was build in WordPress and I would really appreciate any help WordPress can give me. I have emailed Damien at docandtee.com who build the site for me in WordPress, but have not heard back from him yet. I can’t get onto the site or do anything and really want to fix things ASAP.

I received this information from Nick who hosts the website which may be helpful:
    Hello Jonathan

I have taken a look at the source of the main page for the web site. Various resources, including CSS and javascript are being fetched from “setforspecialdomain.com”.

I suspect this is serving content, such as Javascript, which is causing a redirect of the web site.

I have grepped all the wordpress files in the httpdocs folder, and can find no mention of “setforspecialdomain.com”.

This suggests to me that “setforspecialdomain.com” has been set as a configuration parameter in the configuration database used by wordpress.

My working hypothesis is that a bot has found an outdated wordpress version, with a vulnerability, and via that vulnerability, has changed settings used by wordpress to give a new location for resource files, leading to the current behaviour.

I just wanted to let you know that thanks to Damien at docandtee.com the malware issue with my website PVUK has been resolved and our website is back. I really don’t know what I would have done without Damien at docandtee.com help, he really knows his way around WordPress

I too have been hacked. My site is:
    http://sheawright.com/

I haven’t had this domain for 7 years, and I thought it was dormant, nor have I been paying for it. But today I noticed someone posted something just a month ago. I can’t log in to get rid of anything. I don’t want the site, I just don’t want people posting stuff in my name.

@danvshea You’re posting in the support forum for free sites hosted at WordPress.com. That site is hosted at GoDaddy so isn’t on WordPress.com servers.

I haven’t had this domain for 7 years, and I thought it was dormant, nor have I been paying for it

Then someone else has purchased the domain I’m afraid. Something always to consider if you relinquish a domain name that is also your own name.

I’m so confused. This was a WordPress site when I blogged. Even now, at the bottom of the page, it says “Proudly powered by WordPress”.

In any case, thanks for your insights. Much appreciated.

“Proudly powered by WordPress” means that the site is using the WordPress.org software, rather than indicating where the site is hosted.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
